TEMPEST ARTSue Stephenson

About The Artist

Based in Sandown, Isle of Wight, Sue specializes in acrylic on stretched canvas. She draws profound inspiration from the shoreline and ocean, translating waterscapes, reflections, and the coastal atmosphere into her work. Alongside
her representational pieces, Sue also creates compelling abstract forms that explore the dynamic tension between line and color.

Artistic Journey

Sue’s foundational training began with pastels and oils under the guidance of artist Maria Smith in Bermuda. Moving to the island in 1983, Bermuda became her home and the focus of her early career. She went on to refine her artistic focus and was fortunate to exhibit in four major shows at the main gallery of the Bermuda Society of Arts, as well as various other island galleries. Her popular work was also commissioned for a number of private and public pieces across Bermuda.

The Next Chapter

Born in the U.K. Sue and her British husband relocated to the Isle of Wight in 2025 to begin their next chapter. She now lives in Sandown, where she maintains a working studio and a gallery display at The Wighthill.
